Summary
Bullets Over Broadway: The Musical, based on the film Bullets Over Broadway by Woody Allen in 1994, which tells the story of a young playwright whose Broadway debut is financed by a gangster, was turned into a musical period piece for the stage and opened in 2014. The songs featured in the show are all hits that were popular between 1918 and 1930, a time when jazz dominated the pop charts, and that nostalgic jukebox feel is a big part of why both the musical and this original cast recording work so well at setting a time and a place for the soap opera elements of the story to unfold. -- Editorial Review provided by Steve Leggett for All Music Guide, taken from Barnes And Noble website
